A little about the work and me.

paint and draw

I mostly work with mixed media. The mediums I tend to work with are: acrylic paints, water color, various inks, spray paint, charcoal, conte, soft and oil pastels, liquid markers, powdered paint, latex paint, wax, modeling paste, pumice stone, antiquing agents, shoe polish, glass bead textures, small pieces of wood and string, papers, spackling, many other kinds of textures, metallics, and whatever else I can get my hands on. I am always experimenting with mediums and their reactions to each other, so the discovery of new applications is always welcomed. I also work with many application tools and found objects: of course, paint brushes of all shapes and sizes, my hands, palette knifes of all shapes and sizes, combs, wood and metal tools, sponges, sand paper, fabrics, rollers, and many more found objects that can be unique to work with. Work is on canvas, on linen, paper, or wood.

I started photographing as a kid, like anyone else. But, in college, my grandfather-in-law gave me an old, special camera I started to learn on and fell in love with it! Shooting on 120 film, doing everything manually, and developing my own film and prints REALLY made me appreciate the beauty of photography. Not only is it the excitement of taking the shot, but the anticipation to see the final outcome in a print. I still shoot with this camera, but also have included a 35mm…and gave way to digital shooting as well.

I really like to take on a more document like approach with photography, raw and as is most of the time.

Another form of expression, with things to say! Writing stories since I can remember…I even convinced my parents to let me have the old typewriter in my bedroom as a kid instead of a television. Stories, journals, poetry, factual – whatever arises and calls for writing, I’ll take part! Just give me some coffee and a subject!

design

Designing lends itself to all the above. I run an interior design business as well (check out our work here). I appreciate all styles and love to embrace how we all live uniquely. I also love to dabble in graphics, the web, fashion, and I love to cook!

And I love collaborations of many types, just ask!

My work is for sale and I am for hire. Just let me know what you need and we can work it out. Commissions are definitely welcome within parameters I feel comfortable – please contact me with your ideas and together we’ll get to it.
